The Norwegian heavy metal band THUNDERBOLT released its debut album DEMONS AND DIAMONDS in 2003 to very positive reviews, rather unusual at the time for a new band with influences from the rock and metal sounds of the early 1980s such as Dio-era Black Sabbath. It featured strong melodic vocal lines and a more modern production style. The following albums LOVE AND DESTRUCTION and DUNG IDOLS (the latter mixed and mastered by King Diamond's Andy LaRocque) retained the basic influences but also featured elements of classic rock and even a few thrash riffs.

The band toured Europe several times in the 2000s, supporting King Diamond, Sabaton, Paul Di'Anno and Tim "Ripper" Owens as well as a large number of festivals and headliner shows. The band dialed down its activity after ten years to allow the members to focus more on their day jobs and personal matters. Currently THUNDERBOLT is writing new material and looking to once again increase its presence on the scene.
